Dispute over “Khvanchkara” is successfully settled in China Dispute over “Tsinandali”, “Kitdzmarauli” and “Chacha” is still going on The Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (SAIC) invalidated appellation of origin of Georgian wine “Khvanchkara” which was unfairly registered by a physical person. Besides, the disputes over unlawfully registered Appellations of Origin “Tsinandali”, “Kindzmarauli” and Geographical Indication “Chacha” have continued between Sakpatenti and two Chinese companies since February 2014. APPELLATIONS OF ORIGIN OF 7 GEORGIAN WINES ARE REGISTERED IN THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC “Khvanchkara”, “Tvishi”, “Akhasheni”, “Tsinandali”, “Mukuzhani”, “Napareuli”, and “Kindzmarauli” Kyrgyz Patent Office issued registration titles for seven appellations of origin (AO) of Georgian wines. Exclusive rights on Khvanchkara, Tvishi, Akhasheni, Tsinandali, Mukuzani, Napareuli and Kindzmarauli were granted to the “Georgian National Wine Agency” on the territory of Kyrgyz Republic. On March 31, 2014 Sakpatenti submitted to Kyrgyzpatent the applications for registration of the above-mentioned Appellations of Origin of Georgian wines.
